Have you ever had an idea for a television show? You’ve got the characters. You’ve got the idea. You’ve mulled it over and over again. Now what? It’s time to write. In this day and age, the once closed storytelling gates are being opened and audiences are yearning for new stories and storytellers. Storytellers that want to create something new and different. Something that moves people.
Enter Writing the TV Pilot—
A 14 week course designed for screenwriters to write a half hour or hour long television pilot.
In this course you will learn:
Developing a story concept from the heart
Creating characters that audiences want to live with
Creating a compelling hook and premise
The elements of writing a fictional series from beginning to end
World Building
Understanding the elements of screenwriting structure and the art of active protagonists
The elements of subtext and writing dialogue that moves
Understanding your unique storytelling voice
You will also receive detailed notes as you move through drafts of your story through 1 on 1 sessions and group writing sessions.
At the end of the 14 week course you will complete:
pilot screenplay
episodic breakdown
mini pitch deck
an online staged reading of your pilot by actors
Guest screenwriters, producers, and filmmakers will drop in to discuss the art of telling stories, the industry and more.
The staged reading of your pilot will be performed by actors along with feedback from industry professionals. Family and friends are also welcome. You will receive a recording of your reading to keep.
